A message from Amy
We realize that confiding in someone you don’t know can be extremely difficult, especially when it involves parenting and your children. Here at St. Andre’s, we understand that the many stressors related to parenting can be overwhelming at times. You do not have to face these challenges alone.
If you are pregnant or parenting and would like someone to talk to, please call me today. We will be available to answer your questions and provide you with information about our services, as well as other services available in your community. We can even schedule a face-to-face meeting anywhere that is comfortable for you. After we've talked, and you believe you can benefit from our services, we can begin work right away. If the services we offer do not meet your needs, we will be happy to help you explore other services that might be a better fit for you and your family.
We will not pressure you to begin services with us when you call. We will not tell you what to do with your child. We will not pass judgment on you or your parenting. We will not discuss your situation with others. Your information will remain confidential and our discussion will remain private.
Together we can work out a plan that best meets your needs and helps you achieve your parenting goals. If you think we might be able to help, don’t hesitate to call today. You can contact me through our Central Office or directly on my cell phone. I look forward to talking with you soon!
Sincerely,
Amy Morin

Personal Growth
Personal growth starts with understanding the client's feelings and relationships, and sorting out what's important to her. Our counseling begins with listening to our client – her needs, her concerns, her goals. We’ll discuss the challenges that keep her from reaching her goals and we’ll explore possible solutions.
Areas commonly explored in personal growth sessions include:
- Domestic violence and abuse
- Trauma and post-traumatic stress
- Substance abuse and addiction
- Child abuse and neglect
- Relationship issues, including conflicts with a mother’s family, friends, the birthfather, or a significant other
- Mental health and mental illness
- Changes in identity and role as a parent
- Improving a sense of self and enhancing feelings of mastery and competence
Resource Management
Managing time and resources is the key to success.
At times, financial matters can magnify a situation. Common things like housing, food, mediical care, and clothing can turn our world sideways if all of our energy is spent chasing after them. It’s important to know about existing resources and programs that are designed to help us get what we need. These resources can help us get back on track.
The Outreach Worker has the knowledge and connections to simplify the process and help young mothers provide for their own basic needs as well as their child's.
Areas addressed in resource management include:
- housing
- financial supports
- employment
- transportation
- vocational training
- food
- medical and dental care
- clothing
- daycare
- other parenting/child related needs
Frequently Asked Questions
Many women are faced with an unexpected pregnancy or the challenges of parenting without sufficient supports.
These women seek services from St. Andre’s Outreach Program because they need someone they can talk to in a confidential and trusting manner and because they need help developing a plan that will best suit the circumstances of their lives.
Our services are divided into two categories:
With personal growth, the Outreach Worker helps mothers explore and address areas in their personal lives that are keeping them from reaching their individual and parenting goals.
In resource management, the Outreach Worker helps mothers get connected with community services and learn skills needed to manage resources so that they are able to provide for their and their children’s basic needs.
Frequency of services depends on each mother’s needs; however, the Outreach Social Worker generally meets with women for one-on-one sessions either weekly or bi-weekly.
The Outreach Worker is available to meet with mothers and their families, significant others or birth fathers of their children and to attend meetings with other providers. These meetings are generally scheduled in place of one-on-one sessions.
The Outreach Worker also provides resource management services and general support outside of scheduled sessions.
Our Outreach Worker travels to meet with mothers at their preferred location, whether it is in their home, a temporary place of residence, a public area, or at the Outreach Worker’s office in Biddeford.
